Importing a Belgian car to Hungary

As the seat of the EU and various other international organizations, there is a constant flow of people and vehicles between Brussels and Hungary. Many of them were diplomatic vehicles in Belgium, however we have also have an fair share of inflow of Belgian vehicles that are registered in Belgium to private individuals (not diplomats).
In addition, in recent years Belgium has increasing become an important origin export country for Hungarians to buy and import especially more expensive vehicles from. This is facilitied by the fact that Belgian companies tend to sell off their vehicles after three years. These are very well maintained cars, which makes them a popular choice with affluent Hungarians.
Our team has vast experience with Belgian vehicle import, including the steps to obtain Belgian temporary license plates.

As Denmark is an EU country, the process of importing and registering a Danish car in Hungary is rather straightforward. A recurring issue, however, is the validity of the Danish technical inspection (roadworthiness) certificate which is hard to get recognised by the Hungarian authorities. Not to worry, even if it is not accepted, we can still have Danish car registered in Hungary.
- Ensure you have Registreringsattest Del I and Del II (original copy!)
- Even if your Danish car has recently passed Technical Inspection, a roadworthiness check will be necessary before Hungarian registration.
